If hearing the word Goldspot makes you reflexively thirsty for soda, you share a common background with the lead singer of a band with the same name. Goldspot is a unique Los Angeles-based indie rock band infused with Bollywood influence. The story begins with the name, the impetus for which comes from a popular orange-flavored drink—Gold Spot—that was sold in India until the early 90s. Marketed as the Zing Thing, Gold Spot achieved almost iconic status. Sadly, Coca Cola eventually bought the drink and despite its large-scale success, pulled it from the market.
